Two squash duos of the Hong Kong, China team brought home gold and a silver medal on Sunday after facing each other in a mixed doubles final at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
In a 21-minute clash, Lee Ka-yi and Tang Ming-hong beat teammates Toby Tse Yee-lam and Lai Cheuk-nam to secure the special administrative region’s fifth gold medal. Tse and Lai clinched the silver.
The SAR’s men’s epee team — Fong Hoi-sun, Ho Wai-hang, Lau Ho-fung and Ng Ho-tin – took on Kazakhstan’s fencers in the semi-finals, bagging a bronze after losing the game 34-45.

Their victories took the team’s medals tally to 32 as of 6 pm on Sunday — five golds, 12 silvers and 15 bronzes.
Hong Kong athletes also took honors on Saturday, with squash player Chan Sin-yuk clinching a bronze medal in the women’s singles event after a 0-3 loss to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the semi-finals.
The women’s foil team – Daphne Chan Nok-sze, Valerie Cheng Hiu-wai, Janelle Leung Ya-lei and Sophia Wu – claimed the bronze after losing 27-45 to Japan in the semi-finals, with no third-place playoff held for the event.

Royce Chan Lok-hei, Hugo Ho Pak-lam, Aaron Ho Sze-long and Leung Tin-ching of the Hong Kong, China team’s men’s saber team together added another bronze after being defeated 24-45 by South Korea.
The Hong Kong, China team has about 580 athletes competing in the 2026 Asian Games which runs from Sept 19 to Oct 4. At the Games’ last edition in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province in 2023, the city won 53 medals – eight golds, 16 silvers and 29 bronzes.
