- Flamingos Coffee Bar is opening a new, larger location in Dover, New Hampshire.
- The brand gained notoriety after turning a negative “disgustingly pro-women” Yelp review into a successful merchandise line.
- Profits from the merchandise have resulted in over $20,000 in donations to a local women’s charity.
- The new Dover location will be the first to feature an in-house bakery.
DOVER — Flamingos Coffee Bar is expanding, with work ongoing to open a new location at 333 Central Ave. and bring its “creative, fun coffee” to the Garrison City.
Owner MacKenzie Logan said, “it sort of seemed like a natural next step for a Seacoast expansion. So many people who come in are like, ‘Oh, come to Dover, come to Dover …’ and I’m super excited because Dover’s awesome.”

Flamingos’ popular coffee flights offer a sampling of four different lattes with “really fun, unique” flavors that change each month, according to Logan. They feature whipped cream toppings or cold foam and “really delicious fun treats” on top of the drinks.
The new location in Dover is bigger than the two other locations at Hampton Beach and in Exeter, which opened in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
‘Disgustingly pro-women’ Yelp review turns positive
“Disgustingly pro-women” has become a slogan for Flamingos, said Logan, calling it one of the coffee shop’s “biggest draws.” The merchandise with those words is based on a Yelp comment in 2024 by a man who said he felt unwelcome at Flamingos.
Logan said she was “really shocked to see that review,” and was on vacation with her friends when it was posted. Her first reaction was “ouch, that’s kind of rude, painful.” But as she processed it with her friends, it became funny.
Logan said they were laughing about putting it on a T-shirt, so they put it up on their Instagram story and took a poll. Logan said thousands of replies encouraged her to create the shirts.
“People found it to be a powerful comment to a very sexist remark,” she said. “So, we just kind of leaned into it, and we loved the response that came from it. It was way more positive than negative.”
Now there are plans to expand the merchandise line with hats and more.
Dover will be a “a centralized place to go buy that merch,” she said.
She said the “disgustingly pro-women” line has allowed Flamingos to give more than $20,000 to Exeter Area Womenade. She serves on the board of the local nonprofit, which provides short-term financial assistance to people in need.
“It’s kind of become a pillar of what Flamingos is, and I absolutely love that, because I’ve always been into philanthropy and giving back,” Logan said. “The more T-shirts we sell, the more we’re able to give back as 20% of the profits go to Womenade. That’s just been a really, really powerful thing that I’ve just become so proud of.”
What’s on the menu at Flamingos?

Flamingos Coffee Bar features specialty lattes ranging from Cinnamon Toast Crunch to Burnin’ Red (Taylor’s Version).
Logan said her team tries to make the flights look aesthetically pleasing and taste delicious, too. She said they try to match the menu to the seasons or current trends. She said they’ve had a Taylor Swift flight and a holiday flight. A birthday flight is currently on the menu, with a dirt pudding flavor, Funfetti, strawberry cupcake and tiramisu.
What to expect at new Dover location? Bakery will be a first
The new location is almost twice as big as the Hampton location and will offer a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, said Logan. The new spot features an open front patio on Central Avenue.
She wants “to make it the most community centered, appealing place for people to come and do work, meet up with people, have fun, drink coffee.”

For the first time, Logan said, Flamingos will have its own bakery. There are plans to “make a lot of cool stuff in-house for the first time, which we’re really excited about.” Logan said they’re going to take the summer to curate the menu, but there are plans for muffins, doughnuts, bagels and more, with gluten-free options.
When will the Dover Flamingos location open?
Logan is hoping to open in Dover in late summer, potentially early fall. She said renovation work will start in early July with hopes to finish in a few months, but “it’s always up in the air when it comes to construction … I’m really hoping that we’re able to open this spot soon.”
Logan, a University of New Hampshire graduate and Granite State native, said she never imagined the business would turn into two locations, and soon it will be three.
“It’s been really fun to have it grow,” she said.
