Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has surpassed his own record as the most expensive player in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) history.
Haaland’s £15.5million starting price tag for the 2026-27 season eclipses the £15m record he set in the 2024-25 campaign. Mohamed Salah’s £14.5m starting cost last season was the third-highest in the history of the game.
Norway international Haaland, 26, finished as the Premier League’s top scorer last season with 27 goals and eight assists in 35 Premier League appearances (38 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions). It was the forward’s third Golden Boot in the last four years, and his contributions earned a total of 239 FPL points over the course of the season.
According to the Premier League, which runs FPL, Haaland was the most-owned and most-captained player in any Gameweek last season. Captaining a player means their points are doubled.
Haaland’s new record is £1.5m more than his price of £14m last season, which followed a 22-goal haul in 2024-25. The maximum price he reached during the 2025-26 season was £15.1m.
Haaland carried his strong form from last season into his maiden World Cup campaign this summer, notching seven goals in five appearances as Norway reached the quarter-finals.
That included a match-winning double against Brazil in the round of 16, while he also scored twice in the wins against Iraq and Senegal.
Haaland has scored 162 times in 198 appearances for City, and in December 2025, reached 100 Premier League goals in record time — clinching the feat in just 111 top-flight appearances.
FPL users compile a squad of 15 players with a budget of £100m, so the inclusion of Haaland typically needs to be balanced out with acquiring cheaper picks to fill other spots.
The Premier League also revealed on Wednesday that Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes will be priced at £12m for the 2026-27 season, an increase of £3m on last year.
The Portugal international recorded nine goals and 21 assists in 35 league appearances last season, and broke the record for most assists in a single Premier League season.
Haaland and Fernandes are the only players to currently have their prices for next season revealed, with the Premier League season getting underway on August 21.

FPL’s new changes
FPL announced a number of changes to the game ahead of the 2026-27 season earlier this week. One of these is the implementation of real-time updates in mini-leagues and global standings, which will be continuously updated throughout matches.
Projected bonus points, which are assigned based on Opta statistics, will also be applied during matches, rather than at the end of the game, as was the case previously. This system has also undergone a tweak which has sought to credit goalkeepers, full-backs and attackers more fairly, and avoid excessive overlap with how defensive contributions are rewarded.
It was also announced that the “lockdown” of each Gameweek, i.e. when the points total is locked in, will be later for the upcoming season, taking place at 9am BST the following day. This has been implemented to allow more time for Opta’s data to be accurately reflected in the bonus-points system.
Meanwhile, a new “price change predictor” tool will allow users to track the transfer activity of players on a daily basis. This will guide users as to whether a player is likely to rise or fall in price. Previously, amateur price prediction models had proved popular among some users to try and estimate when players’ prices would change.
Alongside other interface updates, the Premier League has said FPL users will be able to view their “career history”, an average across all seasons played, with percentage comparisons against other users.
