Details: Barcelona’s buyback clause for Jofre Torrents

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona were sure to include a buyback clause in the deal which saw them bid farewell to youngster Jofre Torrents this week.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided an insight into some of the finer details of the agreement reached between the Blaugrana and Dutch heavyweights Ajax.

Defender Jofre for his part saw his Barcelona stint brought to an official end on Monday. After weeks of speculation, Deco and his team of directors sanctioned a permanent exit for the 19-year-old, who took his talents to the Eredivisie through the summer of 2030.

The transfer came as a surprise to many, after Jofre, fresh off a breakout season, was widely tipped as a future first-team star in the making in Catalunya’s capital.

But as alluded to above, Barcelona have not yet lost total control of the talented left-back. As per a report from journalist Sergi Capdevila of Sport:

‘Barça reserves a €14 million buyback for Jofre Torrents starting in 2028. Additionally, for both him and Tommy Marqués, it holds right of first refusal (both Braga and Ajax must notify the club of any offer). Control over both, confidence in their development.’
