Controller for HomeKit app adds AI feature: ‘Just say it’

The Controller for HomeKit app has just been updated with a new AI feature which the developer is promoting with the phrase “just say it”.

The idea is that you use natural language to describe what you want to happen and the AI will automatically create the required HomeKit scene, workflow, and/or automation …

The website says that all you need to do is describe what happened and the app will do everything else.

Just say it. Describe what should happen. Controller builds the rest.

Three examples are provided.

Wake me at 6:45 on weekdays with slowly warming light, and raise the bedroom shades when I get up.

Movie night: dim the living room lights to 20% and close the curtains.

If someone comes home after midnight, turn only the hallway light to 15%.

You can see here how that first prompt is turned into HomeKit commands.

It’s extremely poor timing for me to test it as I’ve literally just moved home and so far have only two smart lights and one smart plug in use! However, I just asked the app to switch on the bedroom fan when I switch off the living room lights and it perfectly created an automation for this.

I’ll follow up with a full review once I have my new smart home fully configured, but do share your own thoughts in the comments if you try it in the meantime.

Controller for HomeKit is a subscription app costing $40 per year for the Essentials tier and $80 per year for Plus. A seven-day free trial is available.
