Chicago Fire Midseason Premiere Leaves Future of 2 Fighters in Air

Chicago Fire Season 14’s midseason premiere unfolded some explosive twists and turns. It showcased Severide trying to track down the criminal who set fire that harmed a close one of the Firehouse 51 family. Subsequently, the fates of two firefighters, Van Meter and Mouch, have been left hanging.

So, are these characters all set to depart from the series? Here is all you need to know.

Are Van Meter and Mouch leaving Chicago Fire after Season 14?

As of now, it’s not confirmed whether Van Meter and Mouch are leaving Chicago Fire Season 14.

The latest episode showcased Severide and Van Meter trying to escape the building that has caught fire. They use bedsheets as a harness and a rope to get to the side of the building. However, Van ends up struggling with the smoke, making the escape appear difficult. Nevertheless, he, Severide, and the principal succeed in getting out of the apartment.

Things are still dicey for Van as he is severely injured by the fire and ends up collapsing on the ground. Further, Chicago Med’s Dr. Archer informed Severide that it’d be difficult for Van to make it due to his burns. This led to Stella and Isiah rushing to Chicago to stay by Severide’s side, who was eager to find the culprit. On the other hand, Van was taken to the hospital, where he landed in a drug-induced coma. As such, Stella gets worried due to not receiving any updates.

Meanwhile, Mouch’s fate is also in trouble with his job in danger. After hearing Engine 51 is being withdrawn, he and Pascal try every way to save the former’s job. Further, Pascal decided to help Mouch through a favor in exchange for taking Vasquez. Soon, he found out that orders came from the Mayor’s office that requested which rigs should be decommissioned.

This leads to Pascal confronting Annette, who first denies but explains that she believes he can be more than a battalion chief. However, he seems uninterested in the offer as it comes at the expense of his people. It will be interesting to see how Mouch eventually protects his job.
