賣口乖

七十歲長者看來比實際年齡年輕,衣着亦入時,診症室第一次見面,便「賣口乖」說道:「醫生,你真有型,不做醫生定可以做Model(模特兒)。」 醫生不示弱,回應道:「絕對可以,但我這把年紀只可當上成人紙尿片Model。」長者和醫生開心地展開醫患關係。 「賣口乖」英文可繙譯為「Sycophancy」,此詞源自希臘,意思是「缺乏誠意的讚美」,這跟中文意思很相近,就是阿諛奉承,中英文兩者均有負面意思,因說出那不真實的好話,背後有個人好處的企圖。 醫生卻想「賣口乖」也有一定好處,任何人聽到讚美或奉承自己的說話,第一反應總會是欣喜,沒有人不想聽好話,聽到並感到開心,身體和情緒自然已作出良性反應,當然要理智地回應,但一刻的愉快已袋入袋了,有何不可。 日常醫療工作中,「賣口乖」也是慣常伎倆:「婆婆,你今天精神好好!」,又或「伯伯,你已退熱是好事。」每天病情都有好與壞,先揀選好事跟病人分享開心一下,隨後再處理棘手問題也未遲。 當然「賣口乖」的另一極端,是說完全跟事實不符的假話,若用謊言尋求自己好處便絕不可接受,但在灰色地帶說好那一面也未算壞事,更重要是背後企圖,若只是逗逗開心、打好關係,也未必是壞事。 撰文 : 莫樹錦 欄名 : 醫筆稱心 Source link
