The BYD Da Han full-size sedan with 1,008 km of EV range was revealed in official images in China ahead of the official launch. It is the ultimate flagship of the brand’s Dynasty series. It boasts rear-wheel steering, 764 hp, and a 102.3 kWh LFP battery that supports flash charging. Another variant of its name is BYD Great Han.
The BYD Da Han was previously exposed by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) during the domestic homologation process, revealing core specs. Later, this car was seen several times in China during road tests. On July 27, BYD shared official images of the Da Han sedan via social media channels.
The BYD Da Han is finished in green in the official images. It looks like this shade will become the press color of this flagship. However, this car was previously seen on the roads in a vivid red color. One of the biggest highlights of Da Han’s exterior is the front and rear pillars that are seamlessly merged with the roofline. This continuous element is finished in silver to make a fine contrast with the body.
The front end of the Da Han adopts thin headlights, joined by BYD’s signature “Dragon Whiskers” element. Its front bumper adopts a trapeze-shaped air intake and a sporty shape. This flagship adopts the DiPilot 5.0 assisted driving system with a LiDAR sensor on the roof and cameras in the front fenders. Other highlights of the Da Han include semi-hidden door handles, 21-inch multi-spoke rims, and a continuous taillight unit in the back.
The BYD Da Han boasts hefty dimensions of 5256/1999/1510 mm with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. For clarity, the Da Han is 66 mm longer than the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The all-electric Da Han comes standard with a 102.326 kWh LFP battery. The entry-level model offers a peak power of 370 kW (496 hp) and 1,008 km of CLTC range. The top-trim BYD Da Han AWD offers two electric motors with a combined peak power of 570 kW (764 hp) and 880 km of range.
It is worth noting that the BYD Da Han will be available for purchase with a DM-i plug-in hybrid version. It adopts a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol-powered BYD472ZQB engine with a peak power of 115 kW (154 hp) and an electric motor for 200 kW (268 hp). Thanks to a 54.489 kWh LFP battery, the Da Han PHEV can run up to 470 km in electric mode.
According to China EV DataTracker, the domestic sales of the standard BYD Han reached 3,285 units in June. The more powerful Han L delivered 584 units in the same period.
