During a conversation with Rhea Seehorn for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, the two briefly shifted from discussing Vince Gilligan’s work to Cranston’s Emmy-winning guest role on Apple TV+’s Hollywood satire. Seehorn brought up the upcoming season, prompting Cranston to reveal that production had taken the team to Venice, Italy, where they recreated the Venice Film Festival.
He also confirmed that more celebrities will appear as themselves. Madonna, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover and Julia Garner are among the names involved. Cranston had special praise for Madonna, saying he was impressed by how seriously she approached the role and describing her as “terrific” and “very funny.”
The chat then took a hilarious turn when Rhea Seehorn jokingly asked Bryan Cranston if he was “on drugs again.” Cranston played right along and teased a scene involving the Academy Awards. Keeping things cryptic, he said only that fans “will not believe what happens.”
He also admitted the moment could either be a career-defining masterstroke or a spectacular disaster. Cranston joked that it might elevate him to a whole new level or leave people asking, “What was he thinking?” One thing he seemed certain about, though, is that whatever happens, people are definitely going to be talking about it.
Elsewhere in the conversation, the Breaking Bad star had nothing but love for Catherine O’Hara, his on-screen rival in The Studio. He pointed out that he’d actually played her husband in three different projects before and admitted he missed sharing more scenes with her on the hit comedy.
The Studio turned into one of Apple TV+’s biggest comedy wins, and Cranston even picked up an Emmy for his guest role.
