Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett’s psychological thriller Nightmare Alley is heading to Hulu this October. Guillermo del Toro’s 2021 film is set to begin streaming on the platform on October 1, 2026, according to Hulu Press.
Guillermo del Toro directed Nightmare Alley, adapting the film from William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel of the same name. The psychological thriller was released in theaters on December 17, 2021. The film centers on Stanton Carlisle, who finds work at a traveling carnival and learns the techniques behind its mentalist and clairvoyant acts.
He works alongside Zeena the Seer and her husband, Pete, while also becoming familiar with the carnival’s disturbing geek act and the methods Clem Hoatley uses to recruit men for it. In 1940s New York, he uses the knowledge he gained at the carnival to attract wealthy clients.
His work eventually brings him into contact with Ezra Grindle. He is a powerful businessman, and Dr. Lilith Ritter, a psychologist who becomes involved in his attempt to manipulate Grindle.
The cast includes Bradley Cooper as Stanton “Stan” Carlisle and Cate Blanchett as Dr. Lilith Ritter. It also includes Toni Collette as Zeena the Seer, Willem Dafoe as Clem Hoatley, Richard Jenkins as Ezra Grindle, and Rooney Mara as Molly Cahill, among others.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Nightmare Alley holds an 80 percent critics’ score. Meanwhile, its audience score stands at 68 percent. Ready Steady Cut reported, “A haunting game of drifters, grifters, con men and women that never fail to entertain their audience.”
