Born Again Season 3’s Latest Return Shows Marvel Is Fully Embracing Its Past

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is set to feature another major return. With yet another pull from the past, the MCU show is showing that Marvel is fully embracing its past.

Daredevil: Born Again is executive-produced by showrunner Dario Scardapane, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and more. The ensemble cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Margarita Levieva as Heather, Genneya Walton as BB Urich, Nikki M. James as Kirsten, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Michael Gandolfini as Daniel.

The second season of the show also saw several stars from the past Netflix series, including Krysten Ritter‘s Jessica Jones, return. A new face from the past is also set to return as well, according to new set pictures.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3’s latest shocking return is yet another blast from the past

According to a leaked set video and images shared on X (formerly Twitter), the show’s next installment will feature Elektra. Once again, she will be played by Elodie Yung, who portrayed the character in the original series. In the clip, Yung is seen wearing a long black jacket with a hood covering her head and costume. After practicing a move with her character’s signature weapons, Twin Sai, the actress heads inside the building.

The move is a surprise return, specifically for a few reasons. One, many fans thought Elektra had died multiple times in the Netflix series. The character first died in the second season of the show, and was subsequently resurrected by The Hand before seemingly dying again at the end of the spin-off series The Defenders. Her return is also shocking because, yet again, it shows that Marvel is finally okay with dipping back into some of its best TV.

For years, fans had begged Marvel Studios to bring back characters from the Netflix era of its TV shows. Projects like Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Luke Cage are all beloved by fans, and they wanted to see more. While Marvel always seemed hesitant to do so, things have changed. Not only is Daredevil back, but it seems like Marvel is fully preparing to bring back the entirety of The Defenders. Characters like The Punisher are also set to appear in a full-fledged MCU movie, too, showing that Marvel, for one reason or another, is more than happy to finally acknowledge its almost forgotten past.
