Beloved Will Ferrell Movie Gets Theatrical Rerelease for 20th Anniversary

A beloved 2006 Will Ferrell comedy movie returns to theaters to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Columbia Pictures announced that Adam McKay’s third film, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, will be released in select theaters later this year.

Talladega Nights will screen in select US theaters on June 28, 30, and July 1, 2026. Unlike many recent rereleases, it will not feature any new material or bonus content.

The sports comedy stars Ferrell as NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby, who must confront his own demons and face off against the French Formula One driver Jean Girard. The film’s original release received positive reviews, holding a fresh 72% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 186 reviews. It then went on to make over $163 million at the global box office, becoming a major hit. As for accolades, the film won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer Movie in 2006.

Ferrell, in particular, was praised for his comedic timing, winning the Choice Comedy Movie Actor award the following year. The film also picked up the Best Kiss award at the MTV Movie Awards in 2007.

Known for its quotable dialogue and hilarious bits, Talladega Nights remains a classic Adam McKay comedy. Since then, McKay has worked with Ferrell on other hits like Anchorman, Step Brothers, and The Other Guys.
