Bagel Barn Cafe Blackwood opened earlier this summer with fresh, house-made bagels, breakfast sandwiches and delicious coffee drinks — and now they’ve expanded their offerings with a full lunch menu.
Located on the Black Horse Pike in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, not far from the Davistown Road traffic signal, Bagel Barn Cafe occupies the front end unit of a building that is also home to Sap’s Produce Shack and Custard Shack.

I first covered Bagel Barn Cafe back in January when they were preparing the new shop. When they opened later in the year, I happened to be away then and never made it back to let everyone know they were officially open!
So last week I stopped in to catch up with owner Joe and his daughter Sam, who tell me things have been going great.
We all know summer can typically be a slower time for local restaurants as South Jersey residents head outdoors and down to the Jersey Shore, but Joe says Bagel Barn Cafe is already beating his initial expectations.
And a lot of that likely comes down to the food (and awesome family).

During my visit, I picked up a traditional sausage, egg and cheese bagel sandwich, and it was one of the best I’ve had! They use two eggs, a delicious sausage patty and just the right amount of melted cheese.
I planned on taking it home, but opened it inside the cafe to get some photos. It looked so good that I just stood there and ate the whole darn thing!

Bagel Barn Cafe Adds Lunch
The biggest surprise for me was learning they’ve expanded into a full lunch menu, offering hoagies, cheesesteaks, burgers and a variety of cold sandwiches.
One example is the Park Avenue, featuring turkey breast, bacon and Swiss cheese with homemade Thousand Island dressing. As mentioned, cheesesteaks and burgers have made it on the lunch menu.. everything prepared from the freshest ingredients!

And since this is a bagel shop, you’re probably wondering about the “roll situation” for the expanded menu. Yes, they have traditional hoagie and sandwich rolls!
Joe brings experience from several other bagel shops he’s owned, including most recently in Florida. When he learned about the opportunity in Blackwood — combined with having family still centered around New Jersey — he and his wife made the move back to Jersey to open Bagel Barn Cafe.

His daughter Sam is frequently the friendly face behind the main counter, and during my visit she made me a delicious iced coffee.
Bagel Barn Cafe uses premium Lavazza coffee and has a full barista setup offering regular coffee, Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, espresso and a variety of iced coffee drinks.

Joe also has plenty of ideas for growing the business, including collaborations with other local businesses and events at the cafe. Coming up soon is a pet adoption event planned for the outdoor front patio area.
They make it easy to visit with consistent hours.. .7 days a week, 6am to 3pm!
