Arsenal has reached the pinnacle of English football once again. Mikel Arteta’s team was crowned Premier League champion following the 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Bournemouth.
This unexpected setback for Pep Guardiola’s team against a combative Bournemouth left them with 78 points, while Arsenal’s 82 points sealed the title and crowned the “Gunners” for the first time since the historic 2003/04 season.

Eli Junior Kroupi’s goal in the 38th minute sunk Guardiola and City before halftime and for almost the entire second half. Erling Haaland’s goal in the 94th minute sealed the draw and gave Arsenal the title.
The last time the London club had lifted the trophy was during the historic 2003/04 season, when Arsène Wenger’s team was immortalized as “The Invincibles.”
Since then, Arsenal went through years of rebuilding, frustrations, and several seasons coming within a hair’s breadth of the title. This time, the outcome was different.
Arteta managed to build a competitive and mentally strong team, capable of fighting until the very end and capitalizing on the stumbles of a Manchester City side that had been dominating English soccer. With players like Declan Rice, David Raya, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Kai Havertz, Arsenal claimed its 14th league title in club history.
With this result, they have not only ended a 22-year drought in domestic soccer but also avoided carrying all the pressure into the final Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
With this title secured, the question arises: can they also win the Champions League? The final will be on May 30 against a PSG side looking to become two-time champions at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. All remains to be seen.
