Clarkson is set to portray Hanks’ character’s wife. Domingo and Bad Bunny are also part of the ensemble. The project is being produced in cooperation with Major League Baseball and the New York Mets.
The film also reunites Hanks with Heller after they worked together on A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Hanks and Turner also worked together on Masters of the Air, with Hanks as an executive producer and Turner as one of the stars. Madigan also has a history with baseball movies. Gary Goetzman is producing through Hanks’ Playtone, with Heller and Leah Holzer also producing. With filming planned for this fall, The Comebacker is set to release in theaters on July 30, 2027.
