Serie A, the Premier League, LaLiga and the Bundesliga will reportedly release a joint statement demanding urgent governance reform at FIFA amid the Gianni Infantino controversy.
The President of FIFA has been clinging to his job despite the growing calls for him to step down, a situation precipitated by the plan to sell off commercial rights from tournaments including the World Cup to private investors.
Although that was abandoned, it did prompt several Federations including the Italian one to withdraw their support as he seeks re-election.
Serie A and other leagues take stance
According to Sky Sports UK, further pressure will be poured onto the embattled FIFA chief when four of the top five club leagues release a joint statement on Friday.
That should see Italian Serie A, the English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga and German Bundesliga unite to demand greater consultation on key issues such as the global football calendar.
It is not yet clear if it will call for Infantino to resign, but it is further fuel behind the push to remove him from the head of FIFA.
The focus should be on asking FIFA to have more independent oversight and give stakeholders, including leagues, a more meaningful role in making the big decisions.
It is hardly surprising, considering while UEFA were very much against the European Super League project, FIFA were believed to be quietly supportive of the breakaway plan.
The clubs are also frustrated at the idea of further expanding the international tournaments, making for an even more crammed fixture list.
