Six players have been shortlisted for September Serie A Player of the Month award, with the three clubs sharing top spot all represented.
Davide Frattesi scored in each of the opening three matchdays after arriving from Inter, and has been central to Lazio’s best start in their history. Donyell Malen has the best numbers of the six, six goals in five league games for Roma, while Lautaro Martinez’s four in four have carried unusual weight, with braces that beat Napoli from behind and rescued a point against Roma.
Maldini and Kvernadze the outsiders for Serie A POTM
Adrien Rabiot represents Milan. Two goals is modest beside Malen’s return, but the Frenchman has been one of the few constants through Ruben Amorim’s uneven start.
The other two come from clubs nobody expected to be discussing in September. Daniel Maldini has rediscovered himself at Cagliari after a difficult spell at Lazio, while Giorgi Kvernadze has three goals and an assist for newly-promoted Frosinone, form that has Roma enquiring and Frosinone demanding €25m.
