Xabi Alonso has been included on the shortlist for the August Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month award.
A Premier League legend as a player, Alonso made his managerial debut in the competition less than two weeks ago. However, the Spaniard has been nominated for the monthly award at the first attempt.
Alonso has made an impressive and exciting start to his tenure as Chelsea manager, with our two matches played in August ending in victory and with seven goals scored.
We began our campaign with a 3-2 victory away at neighbours Fulham before making it two wins from two by beating Brighton & Hove Albion 4-3 at Stamford Bridge. Those games came either side of booking our place in the Carabao Cup third round with a home win over Luton Town.
Voting for the August Premier League Manager of the Month award is open now, and you can vote for Alonso to receive the award here until the poll closes at midday on Monday 7 September. The winner will be announced at midday on Friday 11 September.
The shortlist for this season’s first Premier League Manager of the Month award also includes Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Sergej Jakirovic (Hull City) and Enzo Maresca (Manchester City).
