A host of movies and TV shows are set to leave Netflix in the streaming service’s upcoming content shake-up, including a slew of superhero features, as well as several animated classics. Among the series leaving the platform is a fan-favorite wrestling show starring Stephen Amell that originally aired on Starz.
Heels is leaving Netflix next month
Netflix subscribers who want to watch the critically acclaimed series Heels should do so soon, as the show will be leaving Netflix next month. Both seasons of the series will officially exit the platform on September 15, 2026.
Created by Michael Waldron, Heels revolves around the journey of two brothers who also act as wrestling rivals to one another. While one serves as a “face,” or a hero in the ring, the other takes up the role of a “heel,” or a villain. The two partake in scripted matches in hopes of winning over their late father’s wrestling promotion, as well as recognition all over the country.
While Stephen Amell portrays Jack Spade, the “heel,” in the show, Alexander Ludwig plays his younger brother, Ace Spade. Supporting cast members in the series include Alison Luff, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, James Harrison, Roxton Garcia, Chris Bauer, Mike O’Malley, and David James Elliott, among others.
Though the series holds a strong 94% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Heels was canceled in 2023 after two seasons. In 2024, when the series shifted to Netflix, Stephen Amell spurred some hope for a third season. “If there is a hashtag that gets us, we want it to be #HeelsSeason3,” the Green Arrow star said in an interview. “And look, okay, no one took my advice by the way. It says Season 1 and Season 2 right there on Netflix. So the logical step forward would be changing it from a Starz original to a Netflix original or Netflix series.”
However, with the show set to leave Netflix next month, it seems unlikely that Heels will secure a revival anytime soon.
