Congratulatory Message on the 78th Anniversary of the Founding of the Republic of Korea

On August 15, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to President Lee Jaemyung on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Korea, emphasizing that “China and Korea are important neighbors and cooperation partners,” and reaffirmed his commitment to developing bilateral relations.

According to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency, President Xi stated in the congratulatory message that “over the 34 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have achieved mutual success and common development through joint efforts, and have reaped abundant results in exchanges and cooperation across various fields.”

President Xi particularly mentioned the mutual visits between himself and President Lee at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, noting that “these successful exchanges provided strategic guidance for the advancement of bilateral relations.”

He added, “I attach great importance to the development of China-Korea relations,” expressing his willingness to work with President Lee so that the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries continues to move forward on the right track.

He went on to say that he hopes the development of bilateral relations will “bring greater benefit to the peoples of both countries and make a greater contribution to peace and development in the region and the world.”
