Christy Knowings reportedly suffered brain damage following an asthma attack
Former All That star Christy Knowings died at age 46 after suffering an asthma attack that caused brain damage, TMZ reported. A family member revealed that Knowings was hospitalized on Friday following the attack. Doctors placed her on life support as her condition remained critical. Her family made the difficult decision to remove her from life support on Tuesday. She passed away Tuesday night at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
Knowings joined Nickelodeon’s All That in 1997 after appearing in And Now This. Rosie O’Donnell’s sketch-comedy special for the network served as her launchpad. She spent three seasons on the show playing several characters. Her roles included Penny Lane and Jessica on the recurring “Whateverrr!!!” sketch alongside Amanda Bynes. She later appeared in three episodes of Sesame Street with her real-life twin brother, Chris Knowings. Knowings also released the folk single “To the World” in 2020.
Kenan Thompson paid tribute to his former costar on social media shortly after the news broke. The SNL star called Knowings “a real one” and “one of the funniest people out here.” He also wrote, “Never could have imagined this day!!” Thompson sent love to her family and added, “Gonna miss you buddy!!!” The two appeared together on All That during the late 1990s. Knowings joined the sketch-comedy series in 1997 and remained through Season 6.
Knowings became the second former All That cast member to die in 2026. Kianna Underwood was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Brooklyn in January. The news of Knowings’ passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from former castmates and fans. Her contributions to Nickelodeon’s comedy legacy spanned multiple beloved shows and characters throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.
