A Hong Kong woman has paid tribute to the late screen legend Patrick Tse Yin, revealing that he saved her brother from drowning decades ago on a boat trip.
Veteran actor, director and producer Tse, nicknamed “Brother Four”, died on July 16 at the age of 89, marking the loss of one of the last remaining icons from the golden era of local cinema, when the city’s film industry held sway across Southeast Asia.
A social media user called “Maykeung46”, the daughter of the late veteran character actor Keung Chung-ping, recalled on Thursday how Tse once saved her younger brother.
She said in a post on Threads that her father had been a former colleague of Tse and that during a Sunday trip on Tse’s boat, her brother began to sink while swimming. Tse immediately jumped into the sea and pulled him to safety, leading her family to regard him as their saviour.
She added that the last time she saw Tse was at her father’s funeral, where the late star offered his condolences and was remembered by her as “forever the most stylish”. Keung died in late December 1999.
