Chelsea finalizes Denner Evangelista transfer as Premier League clubs keep raiding South American talent

Chelsea is set to wrap up its acquisition of 18-year-old Brazilian left-back Denner Evangelista from Corinthians, with the player traveling to London next week to finalize the move. The deal, valued at €10 million plus €4 million in performance-related add-ons, continues a pattern that should look familiar to anyone who watches Premier League spending habits: buy young, buy often, buy from South America.

The deal structure

The agreement was first reported by football journalist Fabrizio Romano back in March 2025. Chelsea will cover all taxes associated with the transfer, a sweetener that effectively raises the total cost beyond the headline €14 million figure.

Evangelista will officially join Chelsea on July 1, 2026, with his contract extending through June 2032. That’s a six-year deal for a teenager who has yet to play a single minute of Premier League football.

Corinthians reportedly secured a 15% sell-on clause as part of the arrangement. In plain English: if Chelsea eventually flips Evangelista to another club for a profit, Corinthians gets 15 cents of every euro above the original fee.

Evangelista, who stands at 1.75 meters tall, joined the Corinthians youth academy at age 13 and has represented Brazil at various youth international levels. He’s also a cousin of Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
