July 14 (UPI) — Lionsgate announced Tuesday that it will release Sing Street on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and digital on Aug. 11 as part of its Lionsgate Limited collection. Additionally, a VHS tape will also be available.
Sing Street is about a Dublin boy in the ’80s who starts a rock band to impress a girl. John Carney co-wrote with Simon Carmody and directed the film.
Additionally, Carney co-wrote the band’s original music with Gary Clark, Graham Henderson, Carl Papenfus, Ken Papenfus and Zamo Riffman.
The film stars Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Jack Reynor, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kelly Thornton and Aidan Gillen. It premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and opened in March of that year in Ireland and April in the U.S.
The Lionsgate Limited edition includes the new feature “The Risk of Rock & Roll: Going Back to Sing Street” along with previously released bonus features, including cast auditions and a conversation between Carney and Adam Levine.
Originally released by The Weinstein Company, Lionsgate obtained the home video rights to many Weinstein titles like Kill Bill and Scream 4.
