Police said three people were seriously injured in the crash, including a 44-year-old pedestrian who was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei and later pronounced dead at 7.23pm.

Online videos show some of the injured sitting on steps outside the court building waiting for help, before being placed onto stretchers and brought to ambulances.

An injured man said: “[The minibus] was going straight, paused for a moment in the middle [of the road], and then a quick turn of the wheel, it flew over.”

The crash happened in wet weather, with dashcam video showing a pedestrian holding an umbrella being knocked over from behind as the minibus suddenly mounts the pavement.
