Leavitt returns to work after maternity leave

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt appears to have returned to work after going on maternity leave following the birth of her baby girl in May.

Leavitt, who is the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary, was seen traveling with President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One and attending official administration events.

“Back on the road with President Trump lively crowd and a packed house at Mack Trucks in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania!” Leavitt wrote on social media late Tuesday afternoon.

Photos also showed Leavitt walking off Air Force One at Reading Regional Airport as she accompanied Trump to the event.

The 28-year-old mother of two gave birth to her daughter, Viviana, on May 1, and had stepped back from some of her responsibilities while on leave.

“On May 1st, Viviana aka ‘Vivi’ joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love,” she previously wrote on X. “She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble. Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy — I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.”

In March, her fellow staff members gathered at a MAGA-themed baby shower in her honor.

Leavitt’s return comes as Trump works to solidify a peace deal with Iran. Her role includes conducting news briefings, traveling with the president, and responding to questions from reporters on behalf of the White House.

During her absence, other members of the Trump administration — including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio — took the podium at the White House for news conferences.

It wasn’t immediately clear when she will be back behind the podium.

Leavitt and her husband, Nick, tied the knot in January 2025, just days before Trump’s second inauguration. They share two children, including Vivi and a son, Nico, who was born in July 2024.
