Hong Kong police have arrested a 14-year-old boy after a razor blade was found wedged between two seats on a Citybus double-decker, with the force alleging the suspect pointed the blade at his schoolmates during a dispute on the bus.

Inspector Lee Yan-hon, of the Wan Chai district crime squad, said on Friday that police had identified the teenager through the bus’s CCTV footage after receiving a report from a passenger earlier in the week.

“[The boy] remained on the upper deck towards the back. During a quarrel with schoolmates over a trivial matter, he pulled out a box cutter and pointed it at them at one point. He alighted the bus in Wan Chai and left the cutter,” Lee said.

A box cutter measuring about 13cm (5.11 inches), with a 1cm extendable blade, was found between two seats on a route 37A bus, which travels from Pok Fu Lam’s Chi Fu Fa Yuen to Central, at 5.27pm on Wednesday.

The man who reported the case found the cutter at the seat during his commute. Upon investigation, police arrested the teenager for possession of an offensive weapon and attempted wounding on Thursday afternoon.
