Wolfsburg were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in their history after an aggregate 2-1 defeat against Paderborn in the play-off and already a plethora of players have been linked with the Lower Saxony club.
Kicker report that deals for Hertha Berlin duo Tjark Ernst and Fabian Reese will likely fall through with the Wolves no longer playing top flight football, while Mika Baur now has that chance with Paderborn. Additionally, Alessio Besio (SC Verl), Laurin Ulrich (Stuttgart) and Hauke Wahl (St. Pauli) have been linked.
However, there’s now another name. Kicker report that Thiago Silva’s (41) name has cropped up. The Brazilian is leaving Porto after joining on a six-month contract in January but the likelihood that the former Milan, PSG and Chelsea star will be playing for Wolfsburg next season appears to be extremely slim.
