Hong Kong’s Mirror star Keung To urges public to learn from his driving mistakes

Hong Kong Cantopop singer Keung To has urged the public to learn from his mistakes after he was fined HK$2,200 (US$280) for careless driving, running a red light and failing to display a probationary sign on his car while driving.

Keung, a member of the popular boy band Mirror, also said on Saturday that the “P” sign might have fallen off and he was not aware of it until police told him.

The 26-year-old singer, who reportedly obtained his probationary driving licence in February last year, was fined HK$1,000 on Monday for careless driving after the front of his car rammed into railings on Caine Road last November.

“Everyone should learn from my case. Everyone should drive carefully,” he said on Saturday.

Keung reportedly told police after the crash that he had been reaching for his cap in his car’s rear compartment while the vehicle was in motion, causing it to collide with the railing on the pavement.

While the incident resulted in no casualties, both his car and the railing were damaged.

Keung added that he had repaired his car, but dared not drive.
