Hong Kong International Airport has been voted the world’s best airport, along with accolades recognising its security standards and facilities.
An Airport Authority spokesman said on Wednesday that the city’s airport had clinched the title of “Best Airport in the World” from Global Travel Awards this year.
The awards recognise the best hotels, airports, airlines, destinations and other travel facilities annually, based on votes cast by 2.5 million travellers from more than 150 countries. The ranking was first launched 20 years ago.
Vivian Cheung Kar-fay, Airport Authority chief executive, pledged on Wednesday to continue expanding the airport’s network to reinforce the city’s role as an aviation hub.
“We are truly honoured to receive the best airport awards across such a wide range of areas, which reflect the dedication and collective efforts of the entire Hong Kong International Airport community,” Cheung said.
Hong Kong International Airport was also voted the best airport in China in the 2026 TTG China Travel Awards, clinching the title for the third consecutive year. This award was established in 2008 to recognise travel service providers including airlines, hotel groups and other travel-related businesses.
