f you steer clear of dairy because it bothers your belly, you’ve probably been relegated to using non-dairy creamers. Don’t get me wrong, some of those are pretty good. But the best coffee creamers are made with real cream. If you’ve been missing dairy in your morning coffee, I have good news: Lactaid is making lactose-free creamers made with real dairy. No artificial flavors. No gums. Just milk, cream, sugar, lactase enzyme, and natural flavors. That’s just five ingredients—three of which you’re actually familiar with.

These new creamers come in three flavors: French Vanilla, Sweet Cream, and Caramel. And I tried ‘em all using my basic-as-heck morning coffee as the canvas. Will they replace your go-to creamer? Read on to find out.

Lactaid Sweet Cream Creamer

Pros: All of these new Lactaid creamers are just the right amount of creamy, imo. They don’t make your coffee thick, they just lighten it up, add a touch of velvety milkiness, and give it sweetness. The Sweet Cream flavor is sweet but not too sweet. It ends up making the coffee taste like you ordered a “regular” coffee from Dunkin’. As someone who doesn’t often use creamer (I prefer my coffee black because I’m hardcore like that—and have a serious coffee problem) I enjoyed how this creamer didn’t cover up the coffee flavor.

Cons: If you are looking for a thick creamer that turns your coffee into melted ice cream, this might seem a little thing to you. Also, it’s not a particularly interesting flavor. But what do you want? It’s sweet cream.

Lactaid French Vanilla Creamer

Pros: This is a lot like the Sweet Cream flavor, just a bit sweeter. There’s a hint of vanilla flavor, but it’s pretty subtle.

Cons: It’s actually a very subtle vanilla flavor. French vanilla should be rich and custardy and filled with vanilla bean flavor. This is like grocery store brand vanilla ice cream vanilla.

Lactaid Caramel Creamer

Pros: This is the boldest of the Lactaid creamer flavors. It has a buttery caramel flavor that’s sweet and rich. A lot of caramel-flavored creamers I’ve tried end on a far too sweet note, but this one is much more subdued. You can drink a big cup of coffee sweetened with this and not feel like you just drank a candy bar.

Cons: There’s a bit of a burnt aftertaste. But you could argue that it just makes it taste more like real caramel. Or you could argue that it makes it taste bitter, which is how I feel about it.
