Ira Parker gives A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 update
Showrunner Ira Parker has shared a new update on the progress of Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, revealing that work on the upcoming installment is already underway. The series had already been renewed ahead of its debut, allowing the creative team to continue developing the story without interruption.
Speaking in an interview with the AV Club, Parker said the next season will adapt The Sworn Sword, the second novella in Tales of Dunk and Egg by George R. R. Martin. The story introduces several notable characters from the source material. He said, “We’re now getting into The Sworn Sword, which is my favorite novella in many ways, with Rohanne Webber or the Red Widow, Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace, who are these classic characters.”
The showrunner added, “I can’t say much, but we have three absolutely brilliant actors coming in to do these roles. I’m excited. We are cutting some scenes together now, and the directors are seeing some of it, so it feels nice to see [season two] slowly come together.”
Parker also spoke about the experience of continuing production while the first season is reaching audiences. “The show coming out at the same time as we work on it has been a blessing in many ways.” According to him, that situation helped the creative team focus on the job rather than worry too much about how people were reacting.
Season 1 adapts The Hedge Knight, the first Dunk and Egg novella. The events of The Sworn Sword take place about a year and a half later in the timeline. HBO approved the second season in November 2025, roughly two months before the series premiered.
