Hong Kong authorities offer support to family of man found dead in Taipei hotel

Hong Kong immigration authorities have pledged full support for the family of a 26-year-old resident found dead in a Taipei hotel.

The Immigration Department said on Thursday that it immediately contacted the man’s family after learning of the incident.

“The department has provided advice and assistance in line with the family’s wishes,” a spokesman said.

He added that it would maintain close contact with the deceased’s family and continue following up on the case.

According to local media reports, the man had checked into the hotel alone on last Saturday and showed no signs of distress at the time.

The discovery was made at around 1pm on Wednesday after housekeeping staff entered his 10th-floor room when he failed to check out as scheduled.

He was found unresponsive on a sofa and paramedics confirmed his death at the scene, according to media reports.
