Meta的「元宇宙」業務正走向末日，繼早前在Reality Labs大規模裁員、關閉三間VR遊戲工作室後，最新又宣布Meta行政總裁Mark Zuckerberg朱克伯格曾親自展示元宇宙平台「Horizon Workrooms」，也將於2月16日終止服務。 Meta｜元宇宙平台Horizon Workrooms即將停運　企業級VR業務亦全面終止 AI爭議｜奧斯卡影帝Matthew McConaughey註冊商標護形象　阻AI濫用經典台詞據外媒The Verge報道指，Meta確認將於2月16日起，停止以獨立應用形式提供Horizon Workrooms，並於2月20日起，進一步停止銷售商業版Meta Quest，以及Meta Horizon託管服務，意味著Meta將不再向企業提供頭戴設備與軟件。鑑於Meta Horizon Workrooms即將關閉，Meta建議用戶轉為使用Arthur、Microsoft Teams及Zoom Workplace。若想透過頭戴裝置模擬實體顯示設備，則可繼續使用遠端桌面應用程式Meta Quest。至於Meta Horizon託管服務，現有客戶可持續使用至2030年1月4日，且自今年2月16日起，相關授權將轉為免費提供。發展重點轉向手機惟彭博社報道也提到，Meta並非要完全放棄元宇宙：「M只是重點將轉向手機，而非公司最初設想的完全沉浸式VR頭戴設備。」與此同時，Meta VR頭戴設備的主要用戶似乎從企業轉為青少年與兒童。惟對Oculus VR的忠實支持者，以及期待對Facebook VR遊戲發展的人而言，無疑是打擊。
