MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Blytheville Police Department arrested a woman accused of animal cruelty and dog fighting after they seized 36 dogs on Monday.
On Monday, police said they responded to an animal welfare check at a residence in the 900 block of South Ruddle Road, where 18 dogs were seized.
According to police, they obtained information that two residences on the same road had 15 to 20 dogs, and the number of dogs a person can own in Blytheville City limits is five dogs.
Officers said the owner of the dogs was cited to appear in Blytheville District Court.

BPD said they also responded to another residence in the 1100 block of South Ruddle, where they located 18 more dogs and evidence consistent with using the dogs for dog fighting.
Police said Aylemis Estrada, 35, of Louisville, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with 18 counts of Animal Cruelty and 18 counts of Unlawful Dog Fighting.

A court date has been scheduled for Estrada on Dec. 29.
