What to Know About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK Visit Next Month

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will soon travel to the United Kingdom for a special trip that will include appearances at multiple public events.

The couple, who stepped away from their duties as senior members of the British royal family in 2021, will fly across the pond next month with 7-year-old Prince Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet, a source confirmed to NBC News.

Prince Harry and Markle, officially the Duchess of Sussex, have been raising their children in Montecito, California, for the past few years. The family will return to his homeland and from July 7 to July 11 will celebrate one year until the Invictus Games are held in Birmingham, England. British media first reported news of the U.K. visit.

In addition to promoting the July 2027 games, which are a multi-day sporting competition, Prince Harry is also set to make appearances at charity events for WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the source tells NBC News. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not be in attendance at any of the public events and the couple does not plan to have media interviews.

Buckingham Palace did not confirm to NBC News if Prince Harry and Markle will reunite with King Charles III during their stay. But, the source told NBC News that the Sussexes were offered housing at a royal residence for the duration of their visit.

The family will stay for some of their time in the U.K. in a royal residence, the source confirmed to NBC News.

As for the family’s security protection while abroad, a government spokesperson told NBC News, “It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”

Last year, Prince Harry reunited with his father for the first time in 19 months when he flew home in September 2025. The father and son spent time at the king’s residence, Clarence House, in London and had a private tea, Buckingham Palace officials confirmed at the time.

Prince Harry was in London to reconnect with some charities and organizations he partners with. The solo visit came after he shared in a May 2025 interview with the BBC that he wanted to mend the fractured relationship with his family.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. It would be nice to reconcile,” he said at the time.

Prince Harry was interviewed after he lost an appeal to get his British security detail restored. He said the decision was a “surprise” and he was “devastated,” noting that he needed a higher level of security to bring his wife and children to the U.K.

“I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point. And the things that they’re going to miss are, well, everything,” he shared.

He continued, “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done … and I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

Markle showed a glimpse into their life as a family of four in the states recently when she posted a rare photo on Instagram of her husband and children to celebrate Father’s Day.

Below the snap, which showed Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet embracing their father, she wrote, “They’re so lucky to have you. We all are.”
