May they have a long and prosperous future together!” Mr. Trump wrote on the social media platform TruthSocial, along with an old photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping seen together. On India, Russia and China ties, Mr. Trump said, “May they have a long and prosperous future together.”

Mumbai police launch investigation after receiving message threatening to ‘blow up’ city

Mumbai Police have launched an investigation after they received threat messages on their WhatsApp number on Thursday (September 4, 2025), claiming that Mumbai will be blown up, officials told The Hindu. “We will blow up Mumbai,” the message said. Other messages used foul language against the Mumbai Police. We have registered a case and are investigating the matter,” an official told The Hindu. “Precautions are being taken. But preliminary investigation has revealed that it was a hoax call,” a top official of the Mumbai Police said.

Lookout circular issued against actor Shilpa Shetty, husband Raj Kundra in ₹60 crore cheating case

The Mumbai police have issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) against Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty and her businessman husband Raj Kundra in connection with a ₹60 crore cheating case, officials said on Friday (September 5, 2025). The LOC was issued by the Economic Offences Wing of the city police as the couple makes frequent international trips, an official said. A case was registered against the actor and her husband at Juhu police station on August 14 for allegedly duping a businessman of nearly ₹60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal, he said.

Days after the Delhi High Court denied bail to Umar Khalid in the Delhi riots case, senior advocate Kapil Sibal on Friday (September 5, 2025) said Article 21 had been violated and “we will approach the Supreme Court” against the “injustice”.  The Rajya Sabha MP also questioned where India’s democracy was heading with political parties not raising such issues, thinking that this may harm them politically. “Where is our democracy going? GST reforms will cause ₹3,700 crore revenue loss to government: SBI report

The State Bank of India (SBI), in its latest research report, said reforms in Goods & Services Tax (GST) through reduction in rates will cause a minimal revenue loss of ₹3,700 crore. The government estimates the net fiscal impact of GST rates rationalisation will be ₹48,000 crore on an annualised basis. According to the report, given the growth and consumption boost, the minimal revenue loss is estimated at ₹3,700 crore and will have no impact on the fiscal deficit. The report said the GST rate rationalisation will largely have a positive impact on the banking sector owing to meaningful cost efficiencies.

ICC announces Women’s ODI World Cup schedule

The International Cricket Council announced that the upcoming edition of the eight-team women’s ODI World Cup will take place from September 30 to November 2 across five venues in India and Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan capital will be organising all games featuring Pakistan. The venues for the knockouts will depend on Pakistan’s qualification, as two alternative venues have been identified for one semifinal and the final. The eight teams that will feature in the Women’s World Cup are India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
