The ’Burbs Trailer Previews Keke Palmer’s TV Show Remake of Tom Hanks Movie

A new trailer for The ‘Burbs has been released.

The ‘Burbs was originally a 1989 comedy movie directed by Joe Dante that stars Tom Hanks as Ray Peterson, Bruce Dern as Mark Rumsfeld, Carrie Fisher as Carol Peterson, and Corey Feldman as Ricky Butler. It revolves around a man (Hanks) who convinces himself that his new neighbors are hiding some kind of dark secret.

In September 2024, it was announced that The ‘Burbs is being turned into a TV show for Peacock. Coming from creator Celeste Hughey, the show will premiere on the streaming service next month.

What happens in The ‘Burbs trailer?

The trailer for the new The ‘Burbs show is set in modern-day suburbia and “follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home,” per the official synopsis. “Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”

In addition to Keke Palmer, who also serves as an executive producer, the cast of the series includes Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar. 

Rachel Shukert is the writer and an executive producer, while other executive producers include Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson for Fuzzy Door, Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus for Imagine Entertainment, and Nzingha Stewart, who is also the director. Dana Olse is a co-executive producer.

‘The Burbs will premiere on Peacock on Sunday, February 8, 2026. There will be eight episodes in total. The 1989 movie, meanwhile, is available to rent or purchase on services such as Prime Video, Apple TV, and more.
