Standby Signal No. 1 to remain in effect till tomorrow morning

25th June 2025 – (Hong Kong) The Standby Signal No. 1 will remain in force tonight and into tomorrow morning as forecasts indicate that the tropical depression will pass approximately 400 kilometres to the southwest of Hong Kong. It is expected to make landfall on the Leizhou Peninsula. Unless the storm veers closer to the Pearl River Estuary or significantly intensifies, the likelihood of sustained strong winds across the territory is considered low.

As the tropical depression draws nearer, squally showers will gradually approach the Guangdong coastline tonight. Locally, residents can expect increased rainfall and thunderstorms tomorrow, along with choppy seas. Authorities advise the public to stay clear of shorelines and refrain from engaging in water sports.

Conditions will be mainly cloudy, with scattered squally showers. Tomorrow will see more showers accompanied by thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 27 to 31 degrees Celsius. Winds will be moderate to fresh, coming from the east to southeast, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground tonight and into tomorrow morning. Swells are also anticipated.

Friday is expected to bring occasional showers and thunderstorms, while the weekend will likely be brighter with some remaining showers.
