Shocking Disney Movie Announcement Gives Fans Their Wish 18 Years Later

An iconic Disney musical movie franchise is set for a return after 18 years. The news was confirmed by someone familiar with the beloved series itself.

What is the shocking Disney movie announcement?

The Cheetah Girls movie series is getting a fourth installment. According to Variety, Raven-Symoné will return as part of the project. The big news comes from her official Instagram account, where she recently posted a brief clip confirming The Cheetah Girls 4.

“It’s happening, and it’s CHEETAHLISHIOUS!” she wrote while showing herself on the set. It’s going to be a reboot movie, titled The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen. Not much is known at this point except for the announcement and official title confirmation.

Raven-Symoné was part of the first two Cheetah Girls entries. The franchise initially kicked off in 2003 with The Cheetah Girls on Disney Channel. It received positive reviews from critics, earning a solid Tomatometer score of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was followed by The Cheetah Girls 2 in 2006 and The Cheetah Girls: One World in 2008.

Raven-Symoné played the character of Galleria in the first two movies. She starred alongside Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, Sabrina Bryan, Lynn Whitfield, and Lori Alter. In the first film, the story follows four girls who form a singing and dancing group to chase their dreams of becoming renowned pop stars.

All the Cheetah Girls films are based on a popular book series by Deborah Gregory. The franchise helped popularize Disney Channel original musicals such as High School Musical, Camp Rock, and Descendants.

Interestingly, the success of Cheetah Girls also led to three handheld video games based on the musical series. They were released in 2006, 2007, and 2008, respectively.

As for The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen movie, it has yet to receive an official release date window.
