Send us your questions for Newcastle City Council local election candidates

ChronicleLive is hosting a hustings ahead of the upcoming Newcastle City Council elections

ChronicleLive is hosting an election hustings ahead of the May 7 poll that could radically reshape the balance of power on Newcastle City Council

Voters in Newcastle will go to the polls in May for a set of local elections that could shape the political future of our city for years to come. Every one of the 78 seats on Newcastle City Council will be up for grabs on May 7, meaning there could be a huge shift in the balance of power at the Civic Centre.

The outcome of these elections will be hugely important and ChronicleLive will be hosting a special hustings event to put your questions to the various parties vying for votes. Candidates from each of the five main political parties contesting the local elections in Newcastle – Labour, Reform UK, the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party, and the Conservatives – have been invited to take part in our debate on Wednesday, April 29.

Ahead of that debate, we want you to tell us what the big issues are for you in Newcastle and what you want to see from whoever will run the city council. We’re inviting you to submit questions for the candidates on the topics that matter to you – anything from transport and the environment, to education, social care, or other community services.

The hustings will be moderated by Graeme Whitfield, editor of The Journal and Northern Agenda, and released via our YouTube channel and on other social media pages. You can submit your questions by commenting on this article below or by emailing ec.news@ncjmedia.co.uk. Please mark your email with the heading “Election Hustings Newcastle”.
