Rydal village crowned UK's top destination for a short break

The village of Rydal has been revealed as the best place for a staycation.

According to consumer research conducted by Sykes Holiday Cottages, Brits named the location as the top spot this season.

Nestled between woodland, fells, and Rydal Water, its resident lake, the village is known for its impressive scenery and rich literary links, with William Wordsworth famously living at Rydal Mount, a Grade I listed building and historical site, for much of his life.

To help holidaymakers make the most of the season, Sykes has rounded up some of the best places to stay across each location, including cosy cottages to converted barns and lodges.

And Sykes’ Short Break Tester, Charlotte, has shared the ultimate 48-hour itinerary for a visit to Rydal – from the best walking routes to all the must visit eateries, including Tweedies in nearby Grasmere and Force Café in Ambleside.
