Premier League hosts Notre Dame Campus watch party in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – We all know today was a big football day, but the English Premier Leage also wanted to bring another type of football to town soccer as we know it here!

Premier League partnered with Notre Dame and NBC to bring a watch party to campus this morning right outside the campus bookstore.

Of course, along with the match that tailgaters could watch on the big screen, they got to see the iconic trophy up close and personal, as well as catch a photo with the Fulham FC and Manchester City mascots.

Attendees also had the chance to enter giveaways and buy some English-themed goods from the Guiness bar and local food truck.

One official from the Premier League told us this was a great opportunity to share some fun cultural experiences.

“We’ve got our trophy team over from London, we’ve got folks from London who have never been to a college football game so showing them the full experience but again, just an opportunity to collaborate with Notre Dame and NBC and bring to life the Premiere League experience here in the states,” said Head of U.S. Marketing for Premier League Marcus Lynam.

“I think everyone’s excited to have us and host us. I think the collaboration and crossover is there and I think people recognize that and so I think people are asking why we haven’t come sooner.”

Lynam told us even though the Premier League doesn’t play here in the U.S., it’s still a great sport to be excited about, especially with the World Cup next summer.
