Adidas has been the long standing parter with the German national team for as long as fans can remember. This partnership has spanned across generations of fans, creating some of the most iconic kits in football history. Adidas and Germany have arguably shaped football fashion together in one of the best partnerships in the sport. Sadly that will end this year.
In a highly controversial move, Die Mannschaft will partner with American outfitter Nike moving forward at the start of 2027, and fans are not happy about it, to say the least. Cutting ties with a German partner is never a good look, and it doesn’t help that Nike have been highly criticized for their football kits in recent years.
Needless to say, Nike needs to come out of the gate hot with a bold statement to prove the doubters. Nike is taking the opportunity during the World Cup to give fans a teaser of what is to come next year with a short advertisement featuring Mario Götze.
While Nike is only giving a blurry resemblance to next year’s kit, it seems as though Nike will be going with a simple but historic look for their first DFB kit in 2027.
