They were harry-ed over this. The construction of a $580 million 125-mile underground power line connecting the UK and Ireland has been rerouted after hundreds of emotional “Harry Potter” fans called the CEO of the company behind it. The Potterheads lamented that the proposed project would disrupt a memorial dedicated to the series’ Dobby the house-elf character, located on Freshwater West beach in Wales.
ITALY
It’s water under the bridge — that’s unearthing ancient history. A 2,000-year-old bridge in Rome was recently exposed due to low water levels in the Tiber River. Nero’s Bridge, believed to have been built by Emperor Caligula around 39 AD, emerged from the 252-mile river, which has fallen below 2,825 cubic feet per second due to a severe drought in the region.

SWITZERLAND
Life is rocky for these Swiss residents. An unstable rock formation called Spitze Stei could collapse due to thawing permafrost amid climate change. This would result in a massive landslide, threatening the 1,300 residents of Kandersteg, who have yet to evacuate the area.
CANADA
Ontario’s proposed plan to construct one of the world’s largest nuclear power plants in Port Hope, a town of roughly 18,000 people, is facing backlash from residents, who are fearful that history will repeat itself. Port Hope was home to a uranium refining plant, which supplied the US military during World War 2. It also dumped contaminated soil, rocks and other building materials in the area, which were ultimately used for the construction of homes, schools, parks and roads.
MEXICO
They are really going green. Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada announced an ambitious campaign this week to plant a million native trees by 2030. The young saplings will be added to sidewalks, medians and additional “gray” spaces in underserved boroughs at the rate of 200,000 trees per year.
