Disney recently released the trailer for their new animated show on Disney+ that blends European high fantasy with the intense world of sports. The footage offers a glimpse into the story, character dynamics, and art style influenced by anime. In addition, they confirmed the release date and shared the official poster.
Dragon Striker gets release date, trailer, and poster
Disney dropped the trailer for Dragon Striker and also revealed the release date and official poster. Clocking in at 1 minute and 49 seconds, the footage highlights the main protagonist, Key’s energetic yet determined personality, while also touching upon his angry side, which is directly tied to his powers.
The show will premiere all 11 episodes on Disney XD as part of a marathon on June 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. PDT/EDT. They will then stream on both Disney+ and Hulu the next day, June 10. Before this, a series of shorts introducing fans to Dragon Striker’s unique world will begin airing on May 13 on Disney XD and Disney Channel Animation YouTube. These will also drop on Disney+.

“In a world where sports and magic combine, farm boy Key discovers his ultrapowerful natural talent and learns he could be the legendary Dragon Striker,” the official synopsis reads. “Set at Kal Asterock, an elite school for students who possess extraordinary abilities, Key joins goalkeeper Ssyelle on a scrappy new team to challenge the school champions.”
“As he struggles with the raging dragon inside him and Ssyelle fights to hold her team together, they learn dark secrets of the past and uncover an ancient evil,” it continues.
Akshay Kumar stars as the voice of Key, leading a supporting cast that includes Rebecca LaChance as Ssyelle, Yeukayi Ushe as Milo, Waylon Jacobs as Odward, and Evanna Lynch as Ameline.
Meanwhile, award-winning music composer Kevin Penkin, who previously scored Made in Abyss, Tower of God, and Star Wars: Visions, composed the background music, recorded in Japan with an 80-piece orchestra. La Chouette Compagnie produced Dragon Striker with Disney Television Animation.
