BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Governor Patrick Morrisey is continuing to promote healthy eating Monday as he officially unveiled West Virginia Health Right’s new mobile teaching kitchen.
The mobile teaching kitchen is a fully-equipped unit designed to bring healthy cooking education to communities across the Mountain State.
The program aims to demonstrate nutritious recipes, promote preventative health screenings and connect residents to comprehensive health care services.
Morrisey is promoting the mobile teaching kitchen as part of his four pillars of a healthy West Virginia.
“We’re tackling the root causes of poor health, and one of the biggest contributors to chronic health conditions is our broken food system,” Morrisey said. “From what we serve our kids in school cafeterias to what’s available to families through public programs, we’re working hard to clean up the food — get the crap out of the food — and to better incentivize healthy food options.“
Morrisey was joined by First Lady Denise Morrisey and WV Health Right CEO Angie Settle for the ribbon cutting.
