Police have arrested a Vernon man in connection with a fatal shooting in Hartford last week.
Xavier Soto, 34, faces charges of murder, criminal use of a firearm, risk of injury to a child and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department.
He turned himself in at the police department on Tuesday evening and was held in lieu of a $2 million bond pending an arraignment hearing in Hartford Superior Court, Boisvert said.
According to Boisvert, Soto was identified as a suspect in a shooting that occurred last Friday shortly after 6:50 p.m. when officers responded to the area of 387 Broadview Terrace on a report of a person being shot. When police arrived, they found a gunshot victim who was identified as 38-year-old Miguel Alfinez of Hartford.
Alfinez was taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, Boisvert said. The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded to the scene to investigate.
According to Boisvert, Soto was quickly identified as a suspect. Investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest before he turned himself in.
