The Salford wheelchair racer, 28, finished fifth in his T54 800m event after bagging bronze in the 1500m three days before in New Delhi.
Maguire, based in Elton, won global bronze in Kobe over 800m last year and is now a two-time world medallist but remains without a Paralympic medal after a pair of fourth-place finishes in Paris.
He has taken significant confidence from his Indian campaign and hopes to emulate his podium exploits in the States in three years’ time.
“I’ve had a really good championships – it’s been my best ever, so I’m happy with how it’s gone,” he said.
“T54 is always quick – if you’re not fast enough you’re not going to make a medal.
“To be in with the mix with these guys is really special – now I know what I need to do for LA.

“I won’t see most of these guys until then – it was nice seeing half the race was European and the other was rest of the world, so hopefully that means we can have a big European Championships next year.
“The championships have been great overall – to be able to get a medal and sit on a podium with the best in the world is amazing.”

The Greater Manchester star is married to Hannah Cockroft, a nine-time Paralympic champion who grabbed her 19 th global gold in the T34 800m the previous evening.
The pair celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary on the final day of the championships before setting off to Dubai for a week’s break the following day.
Maguire, who was roared on by Cockroft at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, said: “It’s our first wedding anniversary – her present was to watch me race, which probably wasn’t what she had in mind!
“But we’re going to Dubai for a week, so hopefully that’s nice, and then it’s back home and back to training for next year.”
