Is Jeff Bezos Interested in Buying the Seattle Seahawks?

The Seattle Seahawks are rumored to be put on sale after Super Bowl LX and their title game against the New England Patriots.

Owner Paul G. Allen died in 2018, and since then, the organization has been under the control of his sister Jody. After seven years, it appears she is ready to sell the team her brother dearly cared for, with the rumored price reportedly over $6.05 billion, the amount the Washington Commanders recently sold for.

The big question is not if anyone will want the Seahawks, but how much they’ll pay and who (or what group) will buy them?

The NFL ownership group is considered the most prestigious group of sporting franchise owners in the world, and it includes some of the wealthiest people on the planet.

Could Amazon’s Jeff Bezos be the next owner of the Seattle Seahawks?

While at the forefront, it would seem like a simple connection of a wealthy person worth over $200 billion buying a rich thing, but that’s not where the speculation comes from.

Bezos was connected to the Commanders and reportedly interested in buying the team before they ultimately sold to billionaire investor Josh Harris.

Is Jeff Bezos a Legitimate Potential Buyer?

Still a fan of the sport, the Seahawks make it even more sense for the Amazon founder. He has deep ties in the Emerald City, where he built up his company and lived before recently moving to Miami. He still has a slew of personal and work connections in the city, and the ownership of the Seahawks would be a full-circle moment for him.

The bigger challenge for Bezos wouldn’t be buying the team. It would require approval from the other owners, who might feel threatened by the third-richest man in the world joining the exclusive club that already has a hierarchy built over decades of meetings, friendships, and feuds.

Bezos likes a spectacle.

If the Seahawks win the Super Bowl on Sunday and then he buys them soon after, there surely would be fireworks across the league.
